RN4CAST Nurse Forecasting in Canada
December 19, 2017 | By Website Admin |
The RN4Cast research project examines how the organizational features of hospital care can impact on outcomes such as nurse recruitment, nurse retention and patient outcomes.
RN4Cast is led by Professors Walter Sermeus (KU Leuven, Belgium) and Linda Aiken (University of Pennsylvania, US), with surveys in 2009-2010 of professional nurses and patients in approximately 500 general acute care hospitals in 12 European countries (Belgium, England, Finland, Germany, Greece, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland), as well as collection of discharge data from hundreds of thousands of patients across these countries. Reports from the main study findings — which for example linked nurse staffing and education to patient mortality – have been published in the leading medical, health care sciences and nursing journals between 2009 and 2017 and can be found at http://www.rn4cast.eu/research-spotlight.html.
